The MotoLady 1 Year Anniversary Party
So, I showed up at about 7:20p to Slabtown in NW Portland. Shortly thereafter, the Icon boys showed up with their signature ratty custom bikes to park inside.
I set out my helmets and got raffle tickets ready.
About ten ‘til 8, people started showing.
My friend Chris had just put 24 miles on his freshly purchased Ducati, so he parked it right next to the front door.
The space is really quite awesome and full of games- ping pong, pin ball, darts, pop-a-shot, skee ball… plus a juke box, dj tables, and stage.
The highlight of my night by far was when a gang of bikes showed up all at once, (mostly vintage sleeper types) swinging their bikes in and/or driving up on the sidewalk and off curbs to park.
After a short while, another group showed up.
It gives me warm fuzzy feelings just writing about it. January in Portland is not usually filled with sunny days and clear weather, so we all really lucked out. Me especially, as I got to look out the window and see a street filled with bikes. Joy!
I have to give special thanks to Anthony of Bridge City Cycles, as he can probably be thanked for all them cool lookin’ retro bikes.
Some folks came and went earlier in the night, as I didn’t start the raffle until 10:30 or so. But the folks who remained..
After things got settled we started the raffle. Two jackets from Icon Motosports, one Speed&Strength ladies jacket from Sage over at SDS Performance. Plus more awesome Icon apparel. All the gear went to really good homes, as it happened. Ladies jackets to ladies, Alpinestars winter gloves went to a lovely moto lady I met later who happened to need a pair.
It was an awesome evening, full of bikes, games ‘n friends. Couldn’t really ask for more. But if you’d like to see all the photos from the event, head on over to the full album on MotoLady facebook.
I’d like to give special special thanks to Icon, and especially this goof ball, Justin Knauer (their Operations Manager).
Also, a big thank you to Sage Wilkinson from SDS Performance. I’d also like to give huge props to Brinda at Slabtown for the bad ass space, and for letting me use it.
And thank you to everyone for coming. If you didn’t make it this year, hopefully I’ll see you next!
