GT Cafe for Cause Site Launch

Sofi Tsingos has launched the website for her awesome project, GT Cafe for Cause! After her father George was diagnosed with Cancer she started this project to help keep his mind off the battle. I invited her to write a guest article.

“…I decided to build a bike, raffle it off and donate the money to those who work tirelessly to help cancer patients continue to stand strong, to continue to smile.”

Throughout my life, as it is with just about anyone anymore, cancer has affected people I care deeply for. Whenever I would hear someone first confess their diagnosis to me it made me numb. What do you say?

What do you do? I felt helpless, how could I possibly offer comfort or even try to understand how they felt? Part of me wanted to shrink away and not face it. But then you start to actually listen to them. You start to actually watch them.

They are your friends and your family and despite the cancer they still smile, they are still strong and they choose to fight. It was their strength and positive attitude that inspired me to start this project. I didn’t need to be a doctor to help. I just needed to take positive action and use the tools I had available. Everyone is blessed with a skill or talent that can be put to good use, you just have to care and take that first step.

So, I decided to build a bike, raffle it off and donate the money to those who work tirelessly to help cancer patients continue to stand strong, to continue to smile.

The launch of the website is a big step for me because it makes it very easy for everyone supporting this cause to send donations, buy raffle tickets, purchase these badass shirts, and follow the bike build as well as keep up with all of the up coming events. It explains the purpose of this bike and what it means to me. I hope it turns into something that will connect everyone whether if its because it attracts motorcycle enthusiast, finding a cure for cancer, or both!

I cant begin to put into words how incredibly talented and passionate the people are who have helped me through this, and it isn’t even half way done yet! But I can promise you, if you like the blue CB550, you will adore the GT Cafe bike when she is all done.

I keep getting asked if I will be sad to see the bike go, and my answer is always the same. No, it wont. This build is nothing more than a symbol to me. Its a way for me to learn and make the best memories. I also think it will be a cool story to tell if I ever have a kid.

The guys at Gas Monkey have been so awesome and will be showing the bike at the Unveiling party at the Gas Monkey Bar & Grill in Dallas Texas on June 14th, Saturday 2014 at 2pm. I will keep selling raffle tickets for a few weeks after that so everyone has a chance to actually see it.
