Visited Iron & Resin in Ventura, CA today. While I stopped by once before, my exploration of the store was limited by my bladder’s demands so I wanted to go back and take a closer look.

Mainly a retail apparel shop, they also carry wonderful accessories including classy bags, camping equipage, and entertaining baubles. Handy flasks and tool rolls through vintage boots and leather jackets. Bathing suits and surfing stuff, cocktail guides and shot glasses… the list goes on. Seemingly helter skelter but so very well put together, and all fitting a nice beachy mood. Makes sense, being in Ventura and all (which I learned today had a population of just over 100,000). It goes along well with their tagline, “Freedom Riders Supply Co.”

I especially liked the Hunter S. Thompson, “Faster, Faster” art near the entrance.

MotoLadies in advertising… modeling and riding in the Roland Sands Vada jacket

I’m rather excited that Roland Sands is making gear for women now too, however it bums me out that their jackets don’t come with the armor installed in the pockets. I feel like less riders will go on to buy the armor, it should be a standard to promote safety.

The 10-Year Hoodie

Sorry to bombard you with material posts today rather than beautiful imagery as you’re accustomed to… but wandering around the Kickstarter website I found this project. It’s called the ten year hoodie because it’s made to last a lifetime and they provide free mending for a decade. The creators touch on “planned obsolescence” in modern day manufacturing- something many of us motor heads loathe. New bikes and cars may have amazing advances in technology, but these advancements certainly don’t seem to be used to improve longevity. Same goes for our clothes.  So why am I posting it here? If you have to ask, you clearly don’t work on your own motorcycles.

This is pretty much the perfect mechanic’s hoodie, as it’s super heavy duty, warm, has big pockets and hood, and has FREE REPAIRS. Anyway, the project doesn’t need your backing, it’s so good they’re well, well, well above their goal already. But I thought you guys might appreciate a heads up, so you can jump on the bandwagon before they go up in price after they’re first manufactured.

It’s $89 to get your own- five colors to choose from.

New hoodie happiness… FedEx guy arrived with Deus ex Machina goodness just before my birthday! Joyeee.

Hey MotoLady, I just bought my first bike and I'm trying to gear up the right way while still looking stylish. I'm in love with the Uglybro's Twiggy and Ton-up pants but they're made in Korea and kinda pricey. Know of anything great lady's motorcycle pants sold in the states? — Asked by Anonymous

Bonjour! I actually got a pair of Icon Heartbreaker riding jeans with Kevlar reinforced knees a couple months ago and have worn them a lot (on and off the bike). I’ll be honest, I don’t think the photo they have does them justice. They’re boot cut stretchy jeans with thick knees, and they’re super flattering. Plus you could almost buy four pairs for the price of the Ugly Bro’s pants.
