My dude Wolf got workin’ on his XS650 chopper project again last night. Plans were made to have it done by Born Free this weekend, but as happens with building motorcycles, it had to be put on hiatus for a little while. Don’t have a lift? Use a cinderblock. In 2012 Sideburn Magazine dreamt up a crazy idea to bring a variety riders together for dirty competition- from professionals to novices, everyone (and all types of bikes) were welcome on the dirt track. The original Dirt Quake event took place in Coventry, Canada. This year Sideburn and See See Motorcycles teamed up to bring Dirt Quake to the USA… specifically the Pacific Northwest about an hour outside of Portland. Yuriko rides a sparkly pink and purple 1976 Shovelhead chopper… she’s a petite little lady… probably 5’ even. She’s perfected kicking it over with the whole weight of her body. Size isn’t everything. I frequently hear ladies saying, “I’m too short for that bike” and Yuri proves that it’s a matter of determination. Her bike is very custom, making it fit her much better than a lot of stock bikes would. However these bikes are still quite heavy… it’s all about bike control. Practice makes perfect!
