LumiLor Light Paint

This new LumiLor™ Electroluminescent Coating System is pretty amazing. Complicated and expensive, but amazing.

It is not glow in the dark, it’s an actual paint that lights up. Can you imagine riding around with a glowing helmet?

The Icon Airframe Statistic Helmet

Upon one of visits to Icon’s HQ in Portland, I saw a very cool Airframe Construct with impact statistics labeled on different areas of the helmet. Today, the Icon Airframe Statistic helmet is available to anyone who wants to express (without words) why they choose to wear a full face.

Honestly, I’d just love to have one on display in the shop. It’s a good reminder. Almost 35% of hits are taken straight to the jaw.

Meandering through instagram tags and keywords I came across this photo of Marissa Cianciulli which I found particularly striking. She emailed it to me with some details about herself. It’s always nice to include some sort of background with photos of these ladies- to me it gives you a better understanding of the humans inside the helmets, the people riding around you.
Marissa rides her 1982 Harley Davidson Ironhead around Philadelphia, PA. You might otherwise see her driving her 72’ Chevy pickup. She’s a graphic designer, and part of a pretty cool riding club called the Greasy Beavers MC (ladies only). Their clubhouse is called ‘The Beaver Hole’, naturally. Check out the blog here.

Retro Modern Bell Bullitt Coming Soon

Looks like Bell decided to join the retro modern full face helmet club- they recently announced the Bullitt, modeled after the original Bell Star helmet from 40 or so years ago, and so far it’s been shown in three color variations.

Ueda Helmet Sculptures

Shuhei Ueda, located in Japan, is doing some very interesting things in the way of helmet art under the name Ueda Helmets including iconic race replicas.

Instead of painting helmets that are already manufactured, he’s sculpting helmets with human features in/on them.

GSXR love- a couple embraces, staring at each other through their visors. They clearly know that the view is always better from inside a helmet. Ah, motorcycle romance.
If you have information on the original source of this image, please let me know. The best instance of an un-memed image was on BikerTube facebook, but has no source. Thanks!

MotoLady Seven Days of Give-aways… is coming to an end! THE HORROR! At least it’s ending with a super special one of a kind piece of helmet art!

Day 7, Sunday: Super special and so rare… a helmet painted by me! Biltwell’s novelty helmets make great canvas for motorcycle themed art like this one with the chaos star and lightning wings! The star doubles as a compass, should you need it…

Head on over to the MotoLady facebook page giveaway picture- and leave a comment, then SHARE (click this link). You’ll automatically be entered to win. (Make sure you share it PUBLICLY on your profile.)

Submission deadline: Sunday, Semptember 1st, 2013 11:59pst. Announcing winner: Tuesday, September 11th, 2013 (delayed due to an event). Winner is responsible for shipping costs.

MotoLady Seven Days of Give-aways… and day three is an exciting one! It’s just getting better and better, right? In case you missed the memo, I’m doing this as a thanks for being awesome and reading the blog. There’s still four more days to go, and the clock is ticking on past submissions so go go go!

Day 3, Wednesday: Pick up a perfectly pink Icon Airmada helmet- super safe, comfy, and this one is HI VIS! The Airmada is my personal favorite and the helmet I wear on the regular- it’s got great ventilation, the shells are petite even for smaller sizes, they’re light and don’t fog easily. So now’s your turn, folks with an affinity for pink who wear a Medium… step right up!

What do you have to do to win? Not as much as you’d think- get out that point and shoot or smart phone or yours and take a photo that shows how much you love PINK. And MOTORCYCLES. I mean hell, maybe you even have a pink motorcycle. Make it interesting though, people are getting pretty creative with their submissions. Either email it to me (alicia@themotolady.com) or use the handy submit page
