…for science! Or… for the love of moto! Or simply because it’s fun to do things that aren’t maybe the best idea. Either way, Thor raised $50,000 to bring some amazing books to print… two years of the One Motorcycle Show. To entice investors, he said he’d jump over them for another 10k. He got it. Today, he jumped ‘em.

Remember the posts about helping fund the One Motorcycle show books kickstarter project? Well, the crew hit their mark… so Thor upped the stakes by agreeing to “jump over all the people who pledged” if they hit 60k before time was up. Happily for us, they made it!

If you’re in the Portland area you should come down to Club 21 (2035 NE Glisan St.) tomorrow (Wednesday Apr 3rd at 5p) and witness Evil Thornievel jumping a bunch of folks.

I am so excited for this… one of the best things that’s ever happened to Portland motorcyclists.

Cody Kahler was kind enough to GoPro the End of the World ride from atop his helmet!
Riders left See See Motorcycles & Coffee at approximately 8:40p. Wheelies were pulled. Look at that shiny wet ground! ‘Bout 30 bikes total.
I forgot to include the top photo of me talking with Mindy at BLACK MASS that David Frost snapped- so here’s a small collection if his photos from the show.

December 1st at See See Coffee & Motorcycles… the second (I think? right?)) year of the 21 Helmets show commenced thanks to the planning of Thor Drake. You guessed it… the show has 21 helmets from 21 different artists. Shinya Kimura, Chemical Candy Customs, Death Spray Customs, Roland Sands, and more…

Don’t miss the 21 helmets show this Saturday (December 1, 5p) at See See Coffee & Motorcycles in Portland!
You can see some of the helmets from last year on display at the One Motorcycle show 2012 in my blog post »
Glen, exposing himself to motorcycles… flashing his tools. So innappropriate! (At See See Coffee & Motorcycles in Portland Oregon.)
Recognize the bike mid-wheelie in the lower right corner? It was shown at the One Motorcycle Show.

As Plato imagined a table, we imagined a motorcycle. We were thinking a lot about Mr. Plato’s words on the image of a table. The idea is perfect and the product; susceptible to elements and unknown factors, could never be perfect. The idea for us was the One Motorcycle: the stripped down, real deal, simple machine. It was then that we realized we knew a handful of motorcycle builders that in turn knew a handful of builders who all specialize in that ‘ONE’ type of bike. From there, the idea grew. Our theme for the show would be “The One Motorcycle.” (theonemotorcycleshow.com)
When I located NE 9th and Flanders, I had to circle Sandbox Studios a couple times to find parking. Car after car lined the blocks with motorcycles in the spaces between. Throaty purring and shrill screeching of engines echoed down the streets, bouncing off industrial buildings… a tell tale sign that I was in the right place. As I walked around the corner, an exceptionally loud Japanese engine screamed while someone cranked the throttle. A young couple in artsy clothing approached, the woman clinging tightly to the man with a somewhat hesitant smile and nervous laugh, “…Are you sure you want to do this?” They trotted on as if she were only joking.
The One Motorcycle Show year 3, Feb 10th! If you are anywhere in the area, (or have cash to throw at a flight) you should definitely attend this event. Last year there was 78 bikes, 14 burnouts, 80 cases of PBR, and over 3,000 people. You can read more about the 2011 One Motorcycle Show in my post or on Hell for Leather Magazine.
