You know what I love about adventure motorcyclists? They have zero f**ks to give. This guy is riding through snow like it ain’t no thing with a chain set up he made in his garage out of V-bar automotive chain attached with rivets to tubular nylon webbing, doubled back for rim protection. Genius! [ source: ADVmoto forum thread | more harsh weather ]

While it doesn’t strike some folks’ fancy, I personally love seeing things go places they typically “shouldn’t”. Like SeeSee’s Monster goin’ for some off road adventuring.  There are things that you know you shouldn’t do, I find myself time and time again gravitating towards those things. someone once said its better to regret the things you’ve done rather than the regret the things you would have done. Colorful Countryside: Riding the Explorers’ Edge

A place where traffic moves aside to let you pass, the vibrant colors of fall leaves fill your field of vision, roads are open and inviting… my Northern adventure was full of good times. The best parts? Doing it all on the BMW f650GS, and being in great company.  Morning arrived and I pulled myself out of the comfy hotel bed- 9am local time for Toronto, and a painful 6am home time.It didn’t matter- I was chomping at the bit to rail the 2012 BMW f650GS on the Ontario, Canada roads I’d… Continue Reading »

Learning the Dirt at the Touratech ADV Moto Rally

When you get a random phone call from the Marketing Manager at Touratech inviting you to attend their 2013 Adventure Motorcycle Rally, you get sort of excited. Then it moves to a sort of horror when you realize you have to tell them you’ve only ridden on a dirt a small amount, and on bikes either unsuited for the terrain, or much smaller than touring and adventure motorcycles. Fortunately for me, one of the reasons they got in touch was because of my enthusiasm for adventure riding but my lack of experience… Continue Reading »

TerraCorsa: 1199 Panigale Adventure Bike

MotoCorsa is doing some rad stuff. If you don’t already know, I’m no longer working there. Not since last December- but that’s not the point. The point is my friend Taylor Ramsauer (Garage 6) is working on a lot of their projects now. He did a killer video and photoshoot with TerraCorsa– a Ducati 1199 Panigale with knobbies and other mods from Quentin Wilson and MotoCorsa. Quentin has raced in the AMA- personally I don’t think anyone could get on and ride a 195bhp dirt bike quite like he did. He’s also a… Continue Reading »

The last of my Canada adventure riding the Explorers’ Edge… Top to bottom, left to right. We got rained out pretty hard at the end of the trip, torrential downpour on the freeway. My rain pants turned out to be a little too short (testing on the road, sometimes stupid of me) and despite being snapped tight around the outside of my boots, failed and wicked water to my pants and into my boots. Riding with about an inch of water kind of sucked, but we headed to the hotel and got… Continue Reading »
