TerraCorsa: 1199 Panigale Adventure Bike

MotoCorsa is doing some rad stuff. If you don’t already know, I’m no longer working there. Not since last December- but that’s not the point. The point is my friend Taylor Ramsauer (Garage 6) is working on a lot of their projects now. He did a killer video and photoshoot with TerraCorsa– a Ducati 1199 Panigale with knobbies and other mods from Quentin Wilson and MotoCorsa. Quentin has raced in the AMA- personally I don’t think anyone could get on and ride a 195bhp dirt bike quite like he did. He’s also a… Continue Reading »

The last of my Canada adventure riding the Explorers’ Edge… Top to bottom, left to right. We got rained out pretty hard at the end of the trip, torrential downpour on the freeway. My rain pants turned out to be a little too short (testing on the road, sometimes stupid of me) and despite being snapped tight around the outside of my boots, failed and wicked water to my pants and into my boots. Riding with about an inch of water kind of sucked, but we headed to the hotel and got… Continue Reading »

After lunch yesterday Virgil Knapp (photographer) and Adam Wood (videographer) stashed themselves in the back of the minivan and took some photo and video (which turned out amazing, you’ll see) before we made our way to the amazingly awesome Woodland Echoes Resort. A cabin in the woods on the lake, with a jacuzzi, and a fish fry in the hall! What motorcycle traveller could ask for more!? Maybe life size chess? They have that too. Also, a baby dragonfly graced my motorcycle, and I took a power nap laying on it.

Day 2 of the Canada adventure… Huntsville to Parry Sound via Highway 520 and Bunny Trail. Stopped at the Midlothian Castle and Screaming heads… crazy art and house built by some guy in the middle of nowhere. Having lunch now.

A few photos from my Canada trip so far (left to right, top to bottom)- arrived last night and met up with Rod (posted to FB I’d be in Toronto and this chap joined me) for a drink. Went to the Deeley Canada HD manufacturer warehouse to pick some stuff up for the boys who were riding Harleys. Drove out to Gravenhurst and met up with the bikes, met my BMW f650GS… more than stoked to be riding it.  Rode HWY 141 and ended in Huntsville.

Flying out of Portland tomorrow and into Toronto, Canada for the 2013 Riding the Edge Press trip. Five of us are riding off in Ontario, doing 1000 miles in five days. It may get down to 37 degrees Fahrenheit (3 degrees Celsius) and should be raining the whole time.  I’m from Portland so rain ain’t no thang- this will be a blast! To get an idea of where I’ll be, and things I’ll see… read about the Explorers’ Edge and hit this video (below). [ Links: RideTheEdge.ca | tagged Road Trip ]

When I saw Quentin Wilson post a photo of the project he was working on I almost choked on my coffee- a Ducati 1199 Panigale set up for adventure riding. Q is just crazy enough to do this kind of thing, get muddy, have fun, and smile for days after… so I was more than excited to see the outcome.  Well, a couple weeks later here’s a great shot from Arun Sharma of the knobby-sporting TerraCorsa all muddy and used. See more photos on MotoCorsa.com of this genius madness.

Pick up the pick-up road trip adventure! So, right before I went down to San Diego some drunk guy slammed into my car on the side of the road while it was parked (no, I wasn’t in it). Luckily for me he had insurance, and the lovely Taj of Ms Moto Pro has a truck that is exactly what I want. Since she’s in Colorado, I’m flying down there and driving it back. I’ve never driven up the California Coast, nor have I been to Yosemite. So if all goes well I’ll… Continue Reading »
