1940s Women Motorcycle Messengers
Women motorcycle messengers pictured outside the W.M. Garland building in Los Angeles, CA- Chief Messenger Phyllis Domich, Dora “Babe” Duncan, and Janet Spangenberg (ca. 1940s).
Michèle Ebeling aka ‘Mitch’ the Motorcycle Queen sent all these awesome photos of herself to Frank Charriaut of the Mot’Art journal with a mini bio back in 2010. She’s seems to be a very fascinating individual, having appeared in Iron Maiden & Duran Duran music videos plus some. Photographs of women motorcyclists from this time period always fascinate me; society norms changing quickly through the early 1900s allowed women to exercise and enjoy some new freedoms.
