The Nürburgring- on the list of places I must ride.  The Nurburgring is located about 43mi/70km South of Cologne, Germany and can hold up to 150,000 spectators. The older “North Loop” of the track is just under 13 miles long, and has more than 1,000 feet of difference in it’s lowest and highest elevations.  The GP-Strecke section is 3.2 miles long with 16 turns, and the total track length is a hair over 16 miles (25.947 km) with 170 turns. Construction of the track began in September of 1925. [ more info on wiki | more… Continue Reading »

Eagle Road in Norway… the stuff a motorcyclists dreams are made of. Lysebotn Ørnesvingene aka Eagle Bends must be Norway’s most dramatic road. The lower part runs in a spiral tunnel, then climbs in 27 hairpin bends to about 1000 metres. This road is NOT open all year long so make sure to check road closures before booking tickets for an epic adventure. [ source: Adventure Bike Rider FB | more roads ]

Colorful Countryside: Riding the Explorers’ Edge

A place where traffic moves aside to let you pass, the vibrant colors of fall leaves fill your field of vision, roads are open and inviting… my Northern adventure was full of good times. The best parts? Doing it all on the BMW f650GS, and being in great company.  Morning arrived and I pulled myself out of the comfy hotel bed- 9am local time for Toronto, and a painful 6am home time.It didn’t matter- I was chomping at the bit to rail the 2012 BMW f650GS on the Ontario, Canada roads I’d… Continue Reading »

Flying out of Portland tomorrow and into Toronto, Canada for the 2013 Riding the Edge Press trip. Five of us are riding off in Ontario, doing 1000 miles in five days. It may get down to 37 degrees Fahrenheit (3 degrees Celsius) and should be raining the whole time.  I’m from Portland so rain ain’t no thang- this will be a blast! To get an idea of where I’ll be, and things I’ll see… read about the Explorers’ Edge and hit this video (below). [ Links: RideTheEdge.ca | tagged Road Trip ]

Pick up the pick-up road trip adventure! So, right before I went down to San Diego some drunk guy slammed into my car on the side of the road while it was parked (no, I wasn’t in it). Luckily for me he had insurance, and the lovely Taj of Ms Moto Pro has a truck that is exactly what I want. Since she’s in Colorado, I’m flying down there and driving it back. I’ve never driven up the California Coast, nor have I been to Yosemite. So if all goes well I’ll… Continue Reading »
