The Woman Behind the Women’s Moto Exhibit

My friends, I have featured Lanakila MacNaughton’s photography from her project the Women’s Moto Exhibit many many times, but this time you get to see the woman behind the lens. This look behind the scenes literally gave me goosebumps- Austin Will perfectly captured the essence of art, artist, and subjects. I got chills and they’re multiplyin’! “I’m shooting medium format… film on Hassleblad. I’m manually focusing on a moving at 40 or 50 miles an hour.” For those of you who haven’t fiddled with this style photography (or even much at all… Continue Reading »

Artist: Allison Rose Lear

Delaware based Allison Rose Lear is a motorcyclist, artist, and more.  (Photograph by Lanakila MacNaughton of the Women’s Moto Exhibit.) Her art is timeless, detailed, and striking. She recently showed some very large pieces at the LOADED show in Delaware, put on by Cafe Racer XXX and Loaded Gun Customs at the Terraplane art gallery. Allison told me that most of her art is done on large wooden panels with acrylic paint, accompanied by a simple wooden frame. Showcasing her passion for cafe racers and simple but classic art… she brings a… Continue Reading »

[Semi-NSFW warning] Lanakila MacNaughton, photographer extraordinaire, had her gallery premier of the Women’s Motorcycle Exhibit in Portland at See See Motor Coffee on July 12th, 2013.  Lana photographs real women who ride, stripped down (sometimes literally, always figuratively) and embracing the freedom of riding, being a woman, and having the ability to do what they damn well please. Well, at least that’s the vibe I get from it.  Asked to photograph the ride to the show, I called up my friend Tony (who has a nice sissy bar on his bike, great… Continue Reading »

Last Friday was the Women’s Motorcycle Exhibit premier- the super sexy and beautiful medium format photography of Lanakila MacNaughton. Lana got in touch with me on Thursday and asked if I could take photos of the ride in to the show. Knowing the style these ladies have and their love for riding, I knew it’d make for some great photos. A friend of mine was kind enough to let me climb onto the back (he has a sissy bar which helps for photos) and got some great shots. (Thanks Tony!) That being said,… Continue Reading »

(womensmotoexhibit.com) Lana photographs real women who ride, but with a twist of fashion in the midst of hard pavement and and soft curves. If you’re in the Pacific Northwest, your chance to see Lanakila MacNaughton’s beautiful photography in person is almost here! The Women’s Motorcycle Exhibit gallery opening party is from 8-10p July 12, 2013 at See See Motorcycles in Portland, OR. Lana’s work is really special- she uses an old medium format camera (that’s right, it’s film) to capture real women who ride in essence. Her subjects often seem to embody freedom at it’s finest, one with their machines as much as they are their surroundings.  womensmotoexhibit.com » [ see photos feat. Lanakila MacNaughton on ML]
